Mom Starts Business to Share Her Baby-Related Expertise

Blue Skye Baby Consulting and Design creator Shawn Kiraly Corry knows just how challenging having a baby can be.

With two boys of her own, age 9 and 3, and a bachelor of science degree in Human Ecology-with an emphasis of Child and Family Studies-Corry has the credentials to help new families navigate through the many pitfalls associated with a new addition to the family tree.

"I would call myself an ‘expectant parent coordinator,’" Corry said.

One of Corry’s aims with Blue Skye Baby is to use her expertise to help new parents make the right choices when it comes to baby equipment.

"It’s not about which item you should or shouldn’t buy," Corry said.

"It’s about which item will work best for you out of the realm of possibilities."

With new products on the market almost every day Corry offers well-researched, personalized help for her customers. Sifting through the abundance of different types of strollers, baby monitors, highchairs, cribs, and other items can make for a time-consuming and expensive process.

"When I had my first child, I was in awe of how many products were out there," Corry said.

"I’m guiding (new parents) based on what is the best fit for them, what fits their lifestyle."

She wants to help make those early years easier for parents.

"I want to work with families on these things in their homes so when they bring the baby back and they’re stressed and they’re tired it is all ready to go and it is all organized," she said.

Blue Skye Baby also offers packages to help organize baby showers, find the right maternity clothes and will even assist with household needs should an extended hospital stay become necessary.

Corry’s services are based off an hourly rate because, Corry said, everybody’s needs and budget are going to be a little different. Blue Skye Baby also offers connections to companies offering other services such pregnancy and new family photography, a personal trainer specializing in women before, during, and after pregnancy, a personal chef and child-care assistance.

"What I do is almost like a wedding planner," Corry said. "What a wedding planner can do for a bride, I can do for expecting parents."
